Gedicht van de week: Take more steps (Johan van Duijn)

Radio Lelystad plaatst wekelijks een ‘Gedicht van de Week’ van een Lelystedeling. Er loopt namelijk veel dichttalent rond in Lelystad, en dat verdient een podium, ook op onze site. Bovendien is dichten leuk, inspireren de gedichten andere mensen wellicht ook tot dichten en bieden gedichten vaak een andere kijk op de werkelijkheid – bijvoorbeeld een actueel onderwerp.

Deze week een gedicht van Lelystedeling Johan van Duijn. ‘Dit is een gedicht uit een moeilijke tijd die ik moest doormaken. Toen ben ik mijzelf gaan uiten in de muziek, immers muziek draait om zelfexpressie en gevoel. Muziek is ook een goede manier om zaken die je vasthouden los te laten en niet op te kroppen. Mijn gedicht, of eigenlijk een rap-tekst, heet ‘Take more steps’.

It’s a new year new new seasons
when shit rises up I pull through I’m still breathing
brother wake me up in a nightmare I was sleeping
I’ve got a lot of reasons but you don’t find me creeping
I have a lot of dirt in my life so I’ll be sweeping

got me moving forward taking more more steps
and I’m  going to keep walking  till there is no more left
I asked help to build me up  from what’s left
I’m going sweet on this beat, I’m so so deaf

so I’m taking my position  so you better listen
there is a lot a brother want to mention
I need a pot to piss in, yes I’m getting wicked
so I build up them lyrics

time for me to move my muscles,  so I’m about to hustle
put the pieces together,  finish my puzzle
now brother I’ve got to eat,  because my tummy is rumbling
and I collect my cheques  I’ve  got it from the government

when I get no more,  it’s going to be  a capital punishment
I like to  make music  just for the fun of it
check out my style I’m going lock buck wild
not criminal but different  than other individuals

I’m going forward  I am not going back
I carry a lot of weight it’s hard for my back
I want to make that mullah so give me that cash
no time for breaks but I will still relax

if you reap what you sow you got to make it glorious
 everybody knows me but I’m not notorious

got problems they have  been driving  me crazy
now I’m stuck in the field and I am like  pushing daisy’s
don’t want to be the old me so  I change
a brother need to do everything to maintain

I need to light up and get that shit of my brain
a brother don’t want to lose it and go insane
so I dump all of my shit  and the positive I gained
I’m not build weak I’m stronger than this main

so  I inhale, exhale everybody has a story to tell
I’m not selfish but I have to think of myself
and I get a lot of blessings from those that know me well

but I’ve  got to get back on track
and I  always wear a snapback
and I’m m always dressed in black
I need to be where I want and not where I am at
so I break out of my rage and blow them of the map
I need to be cool and calm to fill in these gaps

I see a lot of changes in the world,  it’s getting colder
before shit goes  down, I need to get that dirt of my shoulder
I’m 36 I’m getting grey and much older
remember when I was young,  I used to take things over

now I’m fighting my struggle to change in to a soldier
what I want to become is something more like Jehovah
when I brother got cash I’ll be driving in a rover
and I want to rock this beat , so I’m talking over
when the heat rises up I’m looking for a place much colder
